Lafarge Construction provides Construction services in the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas. Lafarge Construction is based in Edmonton, AB and is currently seeking a seasonal, full-time Utility Operator

Position Description

  • The accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Operate a loader / backhoe / skidsteer safely and efficiently
  • Partake in daily maintenance and complete repairs as required 
  • Complete groundwork / labour
  • Understand road construction best practices, grades, overall construction awareness
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping 
  • Assist with other duties as required from time to time


Qualifications
The successful applicant will possess the following

  • Willing to learn and take direction
  • Must be able to communicate well with co‐workers
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a preference given to those holding a class 3 with air, or higher
  • Must be able to work under pressure 
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
  • Possess good interpersonal and communications skills to deal effectively with suppliers, clients, co‐workers and management 
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, nights, and early starts (irregular hours) when necessary
  • Knowledge of City of Edmonton Specifications
  • Knowledge of the City of Edmonton and surrounding area

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be expected to exercise sound judgment, work safely and communicate effectively in a team. This position is physically demanding and requires crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling. As such, clearance on a pre-employment medical is required. The successful candidate will have a proven record of following safe work procedures and be able to complete field risk assessments.
