General Statement of Duties:A key member of the Kobold Engineering group responsible for firmware development with a strong focus on design considerations for high-temperature electronics.Required Skills / Expertise:Summary of duties (duties may include, but are not limited to the following):Developing firmware for microcontrollers in high-temperature electronics.Using Integrated Development Environments such as Microchip MPLAB, Code Composer Studio, Visual Studio Code, and Eclipse.Working with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Zephyr and FreeRTOS.Debugging firmware using tools such as break points, watch points, and J-Link.Writing drivers for devices such as ADCs, DACs, digital sensors, wireless modules, and accelerometers.Performing lab testing and writing reports.Follow and abide by all current and future Kobold policies, procedures, and processes.Other duties as assigned from time to time.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Familiarity with microcontrollers such as Microchip dsPIC, TI C2000, STM32, and ARM-based microcontrollers.Proficiency in coding languages such as C and C++.Knowledge of data analysis and scripting in Python and Excel.Familiarity with various interfaces such as SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and USB.Thorough and consistent attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and multitask.Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively with a full cross-section of personnel within the company and with customers.Excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.Ability to solve complex problems and understand the details required to arrive at a solution.Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive collaboration across a multifunctional team.&nbsp;Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.5-7 years of experience in firmware development and microcontroller development.Experienced with high-temperature electronics.Note: Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a formal education degree. Firmware Engineer

General Statement of Duties:A key member of the Kobold Engineering group responsible for hardware development with a strong focus on design considerations for high temperature electronics. Strong communication skills and report writing ability, as well as experience in lab testing, are essential for this role.Required Skills / Expertise:Summary of duties (duties may include, but are not limited to the following):Design, develop and test hardware products using Altium Designer, ORCAD, Allegro, Cadence, KICAD and Eagle.Setup design rules and review data sheets for specifications relevant to downhole tools.Determine suitable parts for downhole tools and test and qualify parts.Design and test switching power supplies, and work with mechanical engineers to ensure part models and mounting are integrated properly.Perform signal conditioning for ADCs, including strain gauges and analog inputs.Design and implement protection circuits for high temperature environments, including transient voltage suppressors, over current and ESD.Execute design calculations, including crystal oscillator circuit design, power budget calcs, thermal resistance and power dissipation based on the strong understanding of firmware/ software.Perform lab testing and report results in a clear and concise manner.Develop test plans and effectively communicate results to cross-functional teams.Follow and abide by all current and future Kobold policies, procedures, and processes.Other duties as assigned from time to time.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Familiar with various interfaces, including SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, USB.Knowledge of data sheet review for relevant specifications.Familiar with switching power supply design and testing.Knowledge of signal conditioning for ADCs and various interfaces.Understanding of protection circuits for high temperature environments.Experienced with lab testing and writing detailed reports.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and multitask.Thorough and consistent attention to detail.Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively with a full cross-section of personnel within the company and with customers.Excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive collaboration across a multifunctional team.&nbsp;Education and Experience:Must have an engineering degree, technologist diploma, or equivalent expertise form work experience.5+ years of hardware development experience.Experience with Altium Designer, ORCAD, Allegro, Cadence, KICAD and Eagle.Strong understanding of design considerations for high temperature electronics.Experience in working with mechanical engineers for part models and mounting.If this opportunity excites you and you are looking to advance your career and grow with our company, please submit your resume in confidence at <a href="mailto:careers@koboldinc.com" target="_blank">careers@koboldinc.com</a> with the subject line containing the position you are applying for.
