Overview
Are you looking for a rewarding career with opportunities for advancement? Are you interested in full-time, indoor work in a city setting? Lafarge has immediate openings for experienced Overhead Crane Operators to join our Concrete Pipe operation in Edmonton. Overhead Crane Operators are responsible for running the various overhead cranes in the plant during production. They also participate in housekeeping and various other tasks throughout the plant. An elevated level of safety practices must be followed.
Responsibilities:
Operate overhead crane and all other equipment in a safe and efficient manner while in a fast-paced production environment
Assures that all lifts are within load limits of equipment and correctly rigged.
Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects and personnel.
Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Assist in the fabrication, shaping, and finishing of concrete pipes within the facility, ensuring proper alignment and smooth surfaces.
Contribute to maintaining high-quality concrete pipe production standards, essential for internal projects and operations. Assist machine operators and other workers.
Assist with minor repairs and maintenance.
Clean molds and equipment of concrete, removing excess debris to ensure they are ready for use in the production process.
Participate in daily Pre-Production Meetings.
Complete Field Level Risk Assessments before beginning each task.
Responsible for self-compliance with company policies, safety guidelines, and procedures that pertain to operating a crane and other pieces of equipment
Qualifications and qualities:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience
Overhead crane experience is required
Concrete experience would be an asset
Forklift experience would be an asset
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required Post-secondary degree, diploma, trade certificate, etc. preferred

Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed including Saturdays
